Westerly Rocks Project
April 17, 2006
I have been chosen as one of the artisans to handpaint and embellish Westerly's answer to the "Chicago Cows' :Adirondack Rocking Chairs.
In case that puts a question mark over your head, like it did mine, that's because "Westerly Rocks!"
You see, I'm not a painter by any stretch of the imagination and I can't draw very well either. However, when I got the application for the chair, it referred to me as a "renowned Rhode Island artist," and -- as anyone who knows me personally can tell you -- if you even suggest to me that I might be a little bit famous, you can get me to do anything.
So. I thought I was doomed (or blessed) for the no thank you pile when I found myself explaining on the phone to someone who thought my "application was a bit vague" (intentionally) that my chair was going to look "like the books on my website, except more like a chair, and less like a book."
The next day, I found out that they had accepted my proposal and thought that it was really unusual and innovative.
This page is going to be my online photoblog of the progression of this journey from madness into insanity. Erm, I mean, innovation.

This one was the begining of the madness.
This seems like so long ago.

Before I crossed out most of the dates
The "Date Due" is dimensional, but I hadn't nailed it down in this picture. So it isn't straight. Most of the dates are just random, some are family and friends' birthdays and dates of note to me.
More little details.
